The Fishingest Bridge in Florida

World famous shelling can be found on the snow-white beaches of nearby Sanibel and Captiva Islands, as well as Fort Myers Beach.

If golfing is your passion, Pine Island, Cape Coral and Fort Myers offer top-rated, championship courses. There are over 30 golf courses in the area.

The Fishing is Phenomenal! Fish off the Fishingest Bridge”, just a block away from your front door. During World War II bomber gunners (airmen) stationed at Page and Buckingham Fields discovered the great fishing off of the then wooden bridge and called it the “Fishingest Bridge in Florida”. The name has stuck to this day. The Matlacha bridge was made even more famous by author Richard Powell in his book, Pioneer, Go Home. The book was later made into an Elvis Presley movie, Follow That Dream.
